Camp Fimfo Waco: A Family-Friendly Getaway in the Heart of Texas

If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly camping experience with all the perks of a resort and the charm of the outdoors, Camp Fimfo Waco might just be your next favorite destination. Nestled just outside of Waco, Texas, this vibrant campground offers the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure—with unique amenities, kid-approved activities, and plenty of space to unwind in your own camper.

In this post, I’ll be sharing our family’s full review of our stay, including what we loved, what it’s really like to camp here in a 5th wheel, and why Camp Fimfo is more than just a place to park for the night—it’s a destination in itself. Don’t have a camper, fear not! Camp Fimfo has tons of cabins in different sizes to accommodate families of all sizes.

Who We Are: Our Camping Crew

We’re a family of four who loves RV travel, and we’ve taken our fifth-wheel camper to Camp Fimfo Waco three different times—both in the cooler months and the heat of summer. We were searching for a campground near Houston that offered resort-style amenities without a ton of extra charges—and Cabins & Tent CampingCamp Fimfo delivered.

Camp Fimfo Waco Campground Overview

Located conveniently near major Texas cities, Camp Fimfo Waco is just:

  • 2.5 hours from Houston

  • 2 hours from Austin

  • 1.5 hours from Dallas

This makes it one of the most accessible family campgrounds in Central Texas for weekend getaways and quick RV trips.

RV Sites & Campground Layout

From luxury “red carpet” RV sites to more standard spots, all of Camp Fimfo’s campsites are spacious and easy to access—even for larger rigs. The angled pull-through sites make parking simple, and the wide roads allow for smooth navigation.

We personally booked a pull-through preferred site located right across from the playground—perfect for letting the kids play while staying within eyesight. Each site includes:

  • Full hookups (water, sewer, electric)

  • Concrete pad (great for leveling and keeping dirt out)

  • Grill & picnic table

Cabins & Tent Camping

No camper? No problem! Camp Fimfo Waco offers:

  • Cabins that sleep anywhere from 2 to 11 people—ideal for family reunions, friend trips, or cozy getaways

  • Tent camping sites for those who want a true outdoor experience

We’ve toured the cabins during a friend’s stay, and they’re clean, fun, and thoughtfully designed!

Check-in & First Impressions:

Checking in with an RV is a breeze—just pull up to the main building and a staff member comes out to hand you everything you need. Cabin guests simply park and head inside.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll notice how friendly and attentive the staff is. The entire property is well-maintained and welcoming.
